I bought these cherries after an extensive internet search and I have to say they did not fail!!! I bought them in time for Thanksgiving (2023) and then hoarded them making pies or cherry filled desserts for only the best occasions… and now, sadly, I am out. So, here I am again buying my second batch. Can’t wait!

I have been purchasing these frozen tart cherries for more than 5 years. They are wonderfully prepared. Picked just right, I use them daily for my mornings. The packaging is convenient and they always delight. Never disappoint.

    Friendly site to order.

Cherries are fabulous! We received them only one day after I placed the order; they were still partially frozen so I divided them into quart containers and re-froze them for a years’ worth of cherry pies! For the fourth of July, I made my first pie — a star-spangled cherry pie — and it was fantastic. I would post a picture if I could.

cherries arrived frozen and were high quality–no pits! and used for pies throughout the year! loved the convenience and quality. Sooooo much better than canned!

    I can’t review since I haven’t ordered yet.

I was looking for cherries without preservatives and pitted for a cherry stout beer I will be brewing and came across Brecknock orchards. I ordered 5 pounds and they came packed nicely in a cooler. I tried one before freezing and it was juicy and tasted great. On brewing day I thawed and crushed the cherries and strained one quart of cherry juice. I saved the one quart of cherries to be used later during fermentation and used all the rest of the cherries while brewing the beer. The cherry stout came out fantastic. Next time I will order 10 pounds, 5 pounds for beer and 5 for baking. Cheers.

Your cherries are beautiful, and tasty and arrived in perfect condition! We used to have a bunch of Montmorency and Early Richmond trees, but sadly just a few now and we can’t fend off the birds. Just made two pies, two batches of terrific whole cherry preserves and still have another big pack in the freezer! You can’t beat homemade cherry pie. Made and frozen and waiting for Christmas Eve!

Ordered 10 pounds in July and wanted to wait to review them until I used them for Thanksgiving pies and all I can say is WOW they make the greatest cherry pie I’ve ever had. The canned cherry pie filling stuff is just cloyingly sweet to my taste. I’ve tried making pie with easy-to-find sweet cherries, but the flavor is just not there. Last year (2019) I bought fresh tart cherries during the (brief!) season and pitted them and froze them myself and although the pie tasted great it was (a) a LOT of work to pit the cherries and (b) it turns out that I missed a lot of pits which made for a less-than-pleasant experience (and I thought I was being SO careful!).

Brecknock’s tart cherries arrived frozen, stayed frozen in my freezer for 4 1/2 months, then made great tasting cherry pie filling with no pits that I’ve discovered so far. INTENSE cherry flavor and great texture, and since I made it myself, I can go a little lighter on the sugar and get that tart, tangy flavor that I like best.

I’m hoping the pandemic wanes in time for me to come see you in person this summer when the 2021 crop comes in, but either way, I’m thinking of myself as a lifetime customer for your cherries.

We purchased 40 lbs. They came in 4 – 10 lb insulated containers. Awesome cherries! Nice size. Flavorful. Pitted nicely. Frozen loosely so easily divided. We split them into separate containers to hold the right amount of cherries for a pie and froze them that way. We’ve been picking tart cherries ourselves for over 40 years. These are REALLY good cherries. No more picking by hand for us.

I ordered 10# of tart cherries, and these came nicely packed and still semi-frozen! I also received two pieces of cheese cloth and rubber bands – wonder how they knew I was going to ferment them! In box was also the company’s note pad and pen. . . . nice personal touch! THANKS! I’ll be back. I can promise you that! Bravo!

Once you get your cherries can they be canned for cherry pie filling

    • brecknockorchard (verified owner)

Yes, the tart cherries can be canned for pie filling just like fresh tart cherries. It is best to keep the cherries frozen until you are ready to can them.

Received 10 pounds and they were Shipped very nicely. Frozen cooler- double bagged- perfect! I separated into smaller freezer bags and already cooked up a batch. I boil them in water with a bit a sweetener- chill and serve. My kids wait for this every summer- delicious! Would have bought more if I knew how nice they’d be.

Just received 40lbs of frozen last week, which is what I typically self-pick, then pit, then freeze. These are already pitted and are perfect. When they arrive, just split the 10 pound bags into gallon ziplocs to make them easier to store/use later. Great quality and great price on a hard to find item. Will definitely buy again.

  15. Happy Cumberland, Maryland, Customer

Cherries just arrived and they are very nice size cherries. If you are having them shipped, cherries arrive half thawed, and I met the UPS man at his truck, so they were not sitting for any length of time on a porch. Make sure you will be around the day that they are to arrive. This would have been a catastrophe had I not been home for even just a short while. I quickly repacked them into smaller bags and popped them into the freezer. I finally have somewhere to purchase the tart cherries!! For years I have picked and pitted my own cherries at a local orchard, but now I don’t have to–yippee!!

This is a quick thank you for the marvelous tart cherries. I made two cherry tarts for Christmas and all my guests RAVED about them. To be honest, the thanks are all due to the wonderful frozen cherries from your orchards. The quality of the fruit really made a difference. Bravo!
